The aim of SACMI\u2019s new technology for the recovery and treatment of wastewater is to drastically reduce\u00a0water consumption\u00a0<\/strong>and, at the same time, entirely recycle it, together with the solid precipitate found in it, to be fed back into the production process. The innovative system was launched on the market a few months ago and the first plant has now been successfully installed and started up at\u00a0ours headquarters in Civita Castellana.
How does it work? It is a two-stage process. First the wastewater is pre-treated to obtain a primary sedimentation. Next, a membrane ultrafiltration system comes into operation using\u00a0crossflow filtration<\/strong>\u00a0which, thanks to the specially designed filtering membranes,\u00a0does not require the chemical additives<\/strong>\u00a0normally used in solid-liquid separation and decanting processes.
The result is that the\u00a0recovered water<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 in our case more than 90% in volume of the 5000 cubic metres treated \u2013\u00a0can be reused for a variety of purposes in the sanitaryware production process<\/strong>. In the same way, the\u00a0recovered solid precipitate<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 in the past considered waste to be disposed of \u2013 can also be directly reused in the ceramic body<\/strong>\u00a0and thus completely recycled.\u00a0
The solution is SACMI patented \u2013 due to the crossflow ultrafiltration process being specifically applied to ceramic waste recycling \u2013 and is characterized by its\u00a0modular<\/strong>\u00a0set-up. In fact, after an initial running-in period for the new plant, we expect to expand its capacity to meet the entire factory requirements<\/strong>\u00a0through wastewater recovery and treatment. \u00a0 <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
